The Wales and Africa grant scheme is open for applications until 16 January 2022.
The Wales and Africa grants scheme is a grant fund for community groups and organisations throughout Wales who work with partnerships in Sub Saharan Africa.
The ongoing global effects on the COVID-19 outbreak are being felt differently worldwide. With the varying needs of partnerships in mind, the Wales and Africa Small Grants Scheme welcomes requests which meets the current need the communities you work with either through responding to the impact of the pandemic or resuming ‘business as usual’ activity.

For this funding round there will be two grant streams – small and large.
- Small grants between £5,000 – £15,000 are available for projects which are responding to an identified need in the community that works in line with at least one of the grant aims. For further information about the types of projects this may include please refer to the grant themes below. There is £115,000 available for small grants.
- Large COVID-19 grants between £30,000 – £200,000 are available for projects responding to a need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This can be a short-term intervention or action to facilitate recovery and aid resilience in the future. There is £708,000 of additional funding available for large COVID-19 grants.
This grant round will be accepting applications for ten weeks with requests reviewed on a first come first served basis. A full timescale and process for awards is available on the WCVA website.
