Tim Deeks is Advertising Manager for trusted supplier, recruit3. Here he outlines the challenges of recruitment in our sector and how recruit3 can help WCVA members.
I have been working in the third sector for six years now and I still feel like I am learning something new every day and also that the landscape changes on a regular basis. One constant, and I appreciate this may be overused, is that the work is always rewarding with a real feeling of both accomplishment and also feeling like you have made a difference in some way.
Having worked in the world of publishing and media in Central London for nearly 20 years prior to my current role it’s been a real contrast, but I thoroughly enjoy working in this sector.
I think the people working in this sector have had the largest impact on me, the dedication they show to their causes is inspiring, working to offer a service or advice to people who need it most. Also, the determination to carry on and find another way when funding is stopped or circumstances change.
FINDING THE RIGHT PEOPLE
I appreciate it’s very difficult for third sector organisations of any size to find the right people to fit a vacancy. Possibly even more so in Wales given our unique geography and our major cities all being in the South.
We want to help organisations fill vacancies with the right people, working in this sector has its rewards but also its challenges and it’s not right for everyone. It’s especially difficult at the moment, there is a labour shortage and therefore across every sector organisations are looking for people. This makes it really difficult to stand out, especially on mainstream established job boards catering for every type of sector and with so many vacancies available.
Some organisations may not have the audience or reach to attract applicants to a role, not all organisations are as large or well-known as others in the sector. recruit3 is there to help support third sector organisations find the right person.
WHAT CAN RECRUIT3 OFFER WCVA MEMBERS?
recruit3 is a service offered to WCVA members and other third sector organisations based in Wales to help them advertise vacancies. recruit3 is a partnership between WCVA and The Big Issue Magazine, who I work for. On a daily basis I am in contact with either my colleagues at The Big Issue, WCVA or staff at the organisations who I am helping to advertise vacancies for.
recruit3 ONLY advertises vacancies from the third sector that are based in Wales, this means you will reach an audience of people looking for this kind of work, it helps the organisation recruiting to cut out a lot of wasted time and energy by delivering a targeted audience.
We advertise the vacancies across a number of different platforms, including The Big Issue Magazine, the recruit3 website, the WCVA website and also our Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter accounts. This gives applicants plenty of opportunities to see the vacancies, absorb the information and apply for jobs.
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR BUDGET
We work with organisations to make sure whatever budget they have for promoting the vacancy is used in the best way possible by tailoring an advertising package to suit each vacancy. We are also pleased to offer WCVA members a 5% discount on your chosen recruitment package with us.
If you have a vacancy you would like to advertise, please contact me on tim.deeks@futurenet.com and I can discuss the packages we have available to suit what you would like to do.
And if you are looking for work in the third sector please visit www.recruit3.org.uk and register on the website, you can save your CV there and also sign up for our Job Alert Emails to make sure you see the right roles for you.
