PUBLIC AFFAIRS LEAD
Welsh language essential: Demonstrated fluency in the Welsh language, including speaking, listening comprehension and reading and writing is essential to the post.
35 hours per week
£38,485 increasing to £40,537 per annum following successful completion of a six-month probationary period
Base:
WCVA operates a hybrid and flexible working policy which means our people can work a proportion of their time at our offices or remotely (including at home). We are a pan Wales organisation with office hubs in Aberystwyth, Cardiff and Rhyl that staff can utilise. There will be a requirement to attend some specific staff events and work engagements at our offices.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with policy and public affairs experience to join WCVA’s team on a fixed term contract for up to one year as our Public Affairs Lead. We’re looking for candidates with management experience who can develop our engagement with Members of the Senedd and Welsh Government on issues relating to the voluntary sector.
You will get the opportunity to work with our fantastic engagement team and will build relationships with our members and networks to influence, shape and achieve communication and policy objectives.
Some of your main duties will include:
- supporting our leadership management team and the board of trustees to ensure engagement work informs strategic and operational plans
- overseeing the development and delivery of evidence-based communications and policy campaigns
- telling our story in the media and positioning our spokespeople as experts in their fields.
You will get the opportunity to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders from the voluntary sector, public sector and private sector and will need to be confident in addressing audiences bi-lingually.
This is an extremely rewarding role for anyone who would like to gain experience in a senior management position and make a positive contribution to the Welsh voluntary sector. Secondments will be considered for this position.
