Darwin Gray

Navy Darwin Gray logo

Darwin Gray is an award-winning firm of legal experts providing tailored legal advice to individuals and businesses. As a truly pan-Wales firm, Darwin Gray is proud to serve businesses and organisations across Wales, from both of our homes in Cardiff and Bangor.

We are proud to serve our clients and support our community, with integrity and equitability at the core of everything we do.

Legal support for charities and voluntary sector organisations

We act for many organisations in the voluntary and public sector, as well as charities, right across Wales. We often advise these clients through the medium of English, Welsh or bilingually and regularly hold training sessions specifically for these sectors. Examples of sessions we’ve delivered include Equality and Rights at work, HR and Line Manager Essentials and Sexual Harassment training.

Governance and HR training and health checks

As well as advising on employment law matters, we also advise charities and voluntary sector organisations on their governance matters. This includes preparing or reviewing constitutions, articles, and codes of conduct for trustees or board members, as well as advising in board disputes.

We also offer a ‘health check’ of governance and HR documents (including employment contract and policies) to help organisations ensure compliance with their legal and governance obligations and help to develop and maintain a healthy working relationship with their staff.

Training for trustees, committees and board members

Strong and competent leadership and robust governance is essential for voluntary sector and charitable organisations. Your leadership needs to be able to understand its governance obligations and know how to provide strategic oversight and scrutiny. We can provide corporate governance training to your trustees or board of directors, risk and audit committee, or senior management team to make sure they are well-equipped to carry out their important roles.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru

With an increasing number of voluntary organisations and charities recognising the importance of using Welsh in their activities, members of WCVA can take advantage of reduced rates on translation and interpreting services from many members of Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru.

To find a translator or an interpreter who can do this, go to the Association’s website – www.cyfieithwyr.cymru/en/find-a-translator-interpreter – click on ‘Translator’ or ‘Interpreter’ and then scroll down to ‘WCVA offer’. A list of translators/interpreters who have indicated that they can provide a discounted service will appear. It is your responsibility to contact them directly. Discounts will vary. It is for each individual translator/interpreter to decide how much discount to offer.

Cymdeithas Cyfieithwyr Cymru – the association of Welsh translators and interpreters – is the national association which leads, develops and promotes professional English/Welsh translation and interpreting. It is the only professional association for English/Welsh translators and interpreters. It has three levels of membership: Full and Basic membership for translators and Interpreting membership; as well as a process for recognising translation/interpreting companies. All members commit to the Association’s Code of Professional Conduct.
