This webinar is being delivered by Getting on Board, a national charity committed to changing the face of board membership.

Aims

The aim of this webinar is to introduce best practice for recruiting board members.

Content

An introductory webinar providing an overview on how to do board member recruitment to attract diverse and different people who might not otherwise become board members.

Topics covered include how to carry out a board skills audit, creating a compelling advert and advertising for new board members. Throughout the webinar, participants are supported to think about how this could be achieved within their own organisations.

There will be case studies of how other organisations have successfully recruited new board members.

There will also be an overview of an upcoming Masterclass course comprising of five sessions to follow on from the introductory webinar.

This webinar will be delivered using Zoom.

Who this course is for

Welsh voluntary Heritage organisation Chairs, board members and staff who are trying to diversify their board.

Eligibility

This free webinar is funded through our Catalyst Cymru project, and are therefore specifically for Heritage Organisations in Wales with charitable purposes covering one or more of the following areas: Buildings and Monuments; Community Heritage; Cultures and Memories Land and Natural Heritage; Industrial, Maritime and Transport; Museums, Libraries, Archives and Collection. Webinar places are limited to two people/ organisation.

About the trainer

Leon Ward has been a trustee for ten years and is currently Deputy Chair of Brook Young People. He has published several best practice guides about charity governance in the UK and is a national ambassador for the Young Trustees Movement. He also serves on the Volunteering Wales Grants Panel and most recently has been advising on the distribution of emergency funding for the voluntary sector in Wales.

Catalyst Cymru is a WCVA project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund. We are working in partnership with Getting on Board to deliver five masterclasses which look at different aspects of the board recruitment process in more depth. The masterclasses will take place in October and November
