Aim  

To equip learners with the skills and confidence to shortlist applicants fairly, conduct effective interviews, communicate professionally with candidates, and use AI responsibly to support recruitment decision-making.

Content  

This interactive session focuses on the key stages of candidate selection and communication. You’ll explore how to apply fair and consistent shortlisting criteria, communicate effectively with candidates and conduct structured interviews that support informed recruitment decisions. The session will also consider how AI tools can be used appropriately to support shortlisting, preparation and recruitment administration while maintaining fairness and good practice. 

Learning outcomes 

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:  

  • Apply fair and objective shortlisting techniques
  • Conduct effective and structured interviews
  • Communicate professionally with candidates throughout the recruitment process
  • Understand how to reduce bias and promote fairness in recruitment decisions
  • Use AI tools appropriately to support recruitment and selection activities

About the trainer

Henry Field has been working in recruitment and HR teams for the past 12 years and has a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management. He’s worked within charities, social care, and private sector companies across multiple sectors and specialisms. Henry’s approach is to keep things simple, accessible, and as cost effective as possible. Since April 2025, Henry has been the founder and director of “HR Field”, an HR consultancy based in Cardiff who specialise in supporting charities and SME’s with their recruitment, HR and EDI needs.
