This course will take a marketing approach to fundraising from individuals. It will look at how to go about recruiting and developing individual donors in order to provide a sustainable funding stream for your charity – for emergencies and in the long-term. This workshop has been adapted for small groups working on Zoom.
By attending this course you will be able to:
- Understand what motivates people to give
- Create a simple plan for fundraising from individuals
- Understand the fundamentals of effective marketing
- Take advantage of tax-effective donations and gifts
Who this course is for?
Trustees staff and volunteers in heritage organisation
If you are a Heritage Organisation with charitable purposes and your work comes under one or more of the following areas: Buildings and Monuments; Community Heritage; Cultures and Memories Land and Natural Heritage; Industrial, Maritime and Transport; Museums, Libraries, Archives and Collections you will be eligible for a Catalyst Cymru project place on this course. Training places are limited to one person/organisation.
About the trainer
Richard is the Founder of the Funding Centre, consultants to the Third Sector. Richard has decades of experience as a fundraiser for projects in the UK and internationally. Richard has been Head of Development at the Royal School for the Blind and Development Director of the Thomson Foundation. He has held roles as Development Director of the National Museum Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre and has continued to work in the Heritage sector supporting museums, libraries and environmental organisations to improve their effectiveness.
Catalyst Cymru, a WCVA project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund is delivering a series of free online training course to support voluntary Heritage organisations’ fundraising activities in June and July 2020. Introduction to individual giving – how to raise money from public appeals is the second in the series.
