Aim of the workshop

To equip learners with the skills and knowledge to be effective trustees and provide officers with the knowledge required to recruit, induct and manage a trustee board.

Content

This is an introductory course for prospective and current trustees and officers working with trustees. It covers the essentials of being an effective trustee including roles and responsibilities, an understanding of governance structures, what good practice in governance looks like and how to effectively recruit and induct trustees.

Learning Outcomes

​By the end of this session, learners will:

  • ​Understand the roles and responsibilities of being a trustee
  • ​Understand the main governance structures
  • ​Understand what good practice looks like
  • ​Be able to implement effective trustee recruitment and induction processes
  • ​Know where to find relevant resources and guidance

Who the session is for

Prospective, new and existing trustees, officers with responsibility for board and trustee management.  This course can be adapted for different audiences and timeframes.

Course requirements – please read before booking

What we ask of you:

  • Attend the full duration of the training.
  • Test your Zoom access before attending.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes early – late arrivals may not be admitted.
  • Keep your camera on and participate via microphone/chat where possible.
  • Let us know at the time of booking if you have any access requirements (e.g. BSL interpreter).
