Volunteering Manager
Tom is the Volunteering Manager at WCVA, supporting volunteering across Wales and helping create opportunities for people and communities to thrive through volunteering. Passionate about the role volunteers play in building stronger, more connected communities, Tom has spent much of his career working with students, volunteers and community groups to increase participation, develop leadership skills and create meaningful opportunities for involvement.
Before joining WCVA, Tom worked across the higher education and students’ union sectors, including roles at Swansea University Students’ Union, Undeb Aberystwyth and Bangor University. Throughout his career he has supported volunteering programmes, student representation, societies and community engagement initiatives, helping individuals develop confidence, skills and a sense of belonging through active participation.
Alongside his professional experience, Tom has a strong interest in sustainability, community development and social change. He recently completed an MSc in Sustainability and Behaviour Change, exploring how volunteering is represented and understood in Welsh policy and practice. His academic and professional interests come together through a belief that volunteering can play a vital role in creating a fairer, more sustainable Wales.
Outside of work, Tom can often be found volunteering, enjoying the outdoors, gardening, or exploring Wales’ landscapes and green spaces.
