Trustee
Callum grew up in the southeast of England before moving to Aberystwyth to study Zoology at University in 2018. After finishing four years of studying, he stayed in Mid Wales and joined Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations promoting volunteering to young people and helping groups to offer higher quality opportunities for young people. He now works with the county’s ‘Anchor Organisations’ and hubs so they can better support their communities.
Callum’s strong belief in the power of volunteers comes from his own voluntary experience. He began volunteering as a Scout Leader as a teenager. When he turned 18, he took on his first management and trustee role and has since supported every level of The Scouts. This included spending five years as part of the senior volunteer team and trustee board for ScoutsCymru, championing youth voice and creating opportunities for young people to shape their world both within and without of Scouts. Currently, Callum is the Lead Volunteer for 3rd Aberystwyth Scouts and represents Wales on the UK Trustee Board of The Scouts.
Callum has also volunteered with several student and community organisations in and around Aberystwyth including Aberkayakers – a canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding club.
In his free time, Callum prefers to spend his time hiking in the mountains, exploring on his SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) or white-water kayaking. He also has two border collies that he competes with in Dog Agility competitions all over Wales and the Midlands.
