Safeguarding Week is taking place from 11-15 November 2024 and we’ve got some free events for voluntary organisations in Wales to mark the occasion.
National Safeguarding Week is an annual event coordinated by the five Regional Safeguarding Boards throughout Wales. It is a dedicated time for organisations to come together and raise awareness of important safeguarding issues, learn best practices and to share knowledge and learn from others.
This year, Safeguarding Week will take place from 11-15 November 2024 and we are running two free events on theme of neglect.
WHAT’S ON DURING SAFEGUARDING WEEK?
During Safeguarding Week a range of activities across Wales will take place, which members of the public and safeguarding professionals are encouraged to attend.
We will be offering two free webinars during the week:
Recognising and responding to the signs of neglect

Neglect is a failure to meet a person’s basic physical, emotional, social or psychological needs, which is likely to result in an impairment of the person’s well-being. In this webinar we explore neglect in young people and those from an ethnic minority background. We will be covering topics such as:
- Cultural sensitivities
- Language barriers
- Mistaken neglect
- Institutional racism
- Mental health concerns
The webinar is co-hosted by WCVA and Ethnic Minorities Youth Support Team (EYST) and is FREE to attend. This online event is particularly suitable for anyone involved in policy development, safeguarding practice, working with young people or ethnic minority groups.
Safeguarding and your volunteers
Thursday 14 November 2024, 10.30-11.30 am
Taking a safeguarding approach to volunteering will help your organisation keep people safe. In this webinar, we discuss what your organisation can do to keep your volunteers safe at all stages of volunteering.
