Restoring nature & improving its resilience

Published : 31/10/22 | Categories: Funding | News |

WCVA and partners have received funding from Welsh Government to deliver the start-up phase of the National Nature Service (NNS) in Wales.

The National Nature Service (NNS) will be a country-wide movement to restore nature and improve its resilience, while creating good new jobs and livelihood opportunities in sustainably managing and using natural resources, and embedding nature positive skills across the workforce.

Throughout the development of the National Nature Service, contributions from stakeholders have been a vital element in the co-design process and getting the vision of the NNS to this point.

Building on this collaborative approach, we are pleased to announce a new funded opportunity for stakeholders to contribute towards the development of a NNS business plan.

Organisations will be awarded up to £5,000 to deliver scoping exercises which explore opportunities for skills development and job creation which support nature recovery.

To learn more about this opportunity please read the guidance in full and complete an application form.

Completed scoping exercises should be submitted to WCVA no later than 13 January 2023.

PROCESS TO APPLY

To submit a proposal please complete the application form and include a budget for how the £5,000 will be utilised.

Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage organisations to submit proposals in a timely manner due to the limited funding available. Successful proposals will be as comprehensive as possible but recognise limitations due to time restraints. If further information is required before a final decision can be made on a proposal, organisations will be contacted to discuss any outstanding queries.

As proposals will be assessed on a rolling basis it is expected that activity will begin as soon as possible after submission.

Please note, the £5,000 available is inclusive of all VAT and due to the limited funding available only one proposal will be accepted per organisation.

Proposals are open to all, but it is expected that all organisations submitting a proposal will be signed up to the mailing list so they are connected to the wider stakeholder network. If you would like to submit a proposal or hear about future opportunities and updates from the National Nature Services, please sign up to the mailing list here.

Ahead of submission please contact jpreston@wcva.cymru or call 029 2043 1725 to discuss your proposal.

Please submit your form to jpreston@wcva.cymru by 13 November 2022.

To find out more about the National Nature Service and to stay connected please sign up to the NNS mailing list.
