Navigating the new Code of Fundraising Practice

Published : 12/05/25 | Categories: News | Training & events |

Join WCVA and the Fundraising Regulator for an essential overview of the new Code of Fundraising Practice which sets the standards for open, honest and respectful fundraising.

After more than two years of listening, learning and working with the fundraising sector and others, the Fundraising Regulator has launched its new Code of Fundraising Practice, which comes into effect on 1 November 2025. This represents a clearer, more flexible, and modern approach to fundraising regulation.

We’re inviting organisations in Wales who have an interest in charitable fundraising to join us for a session with the Fundraising Regulator. The session will outline the key changes to the new code, and update attendees on additional guidance the regulator has planned for later this year. It will also help voluntary organisations understand what they can do to prepare for the new framework.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The event for stakeholders in Wales will be held on Wednesday 4 June 2025, 11 am – 12 pm. This is an online event.

The event will be chaired by WCVA, and the Fundraising Regulator team that led the code review process will be there to answer your questions.

Further details and event registration.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact code@fundraisingregulator.org.uk.

WHAT IS NEW?

The new code reflects the expertise and experience of those who use it. Some key changes include:

  • A principles-based approach – making it easier to apply the same high standards across different types of fundraising activity
  • Simpler to use – the new code is shorter than the previous version, with improved signposting to legal requirements and external guidance, making it more accessible and easier to navigate, especially for smaller organisations or those new to fundraising
  • Stronger protection for fundraisers – additional requirements mean fundraising organisations must now take reasonable steps to protect fundraisers from harm and harassment while fundraising and ensure they feel supported and able to raise concerns

You can read more about the new code on the Fundraising Regulator website.
