WCVA is currently working on two responses to Welsh Government consultations, both of which look at crucial areas in which the voluntary sector is involved. We need to hear from as many sector voices as possible so they can be incorporated into our response and be heard by Welsh Government, potentially influencing their decisions going forward.
LGBTQ+ Action Plan
The first looks at Welsh Government’s LGBTQ+ Action Plan. The Plan seeks to ‘tackle the existing structural inequalities experienced by LGBTQ+ communities, challenge discrimination and create a society where LGBTQ+ people are safe to live and love authentically, openly and freely as themselves’.
This consultation asks a number of questions around volunteering and volunteer-involving organisations. We are seeking sector views for consideration in our response via this survey. It should take 15-20 minutes to complete and will close on 1 October 2021.
Measuring our nation’s progress
The second looks at the development of indicators and milestones to measure the progress of Wales as a nation. Welsh Government have stated that ‘setting national milestones against these indicators can help galvanise collective action, as well as helping us to understand progress towards achievement of the well-being goals’. WCVA is keen to understand the voluntary sector’s knowledge of, and engagement with, Welsh Government’s work on developing National Indicators and Milestones.
To do this, we have developed another short survey intended to help us build a picture of the sector’s involvement. It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. This survey will close on 15 October.
This looks set to be an important facet in Welsh Government policy, so it really is vital that we hear from as many sector voices as possible before compiling our consultation response.
