The National Lottery Community Fund Wales have announced their Helping End Homelessness fund; a £10m fund for strategic projects that operate across one or more local authority areas in urban and rural settings that seek to redesign services to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurrent.

Organisations interested in applying for this fund must contact the National Lottery Community Fund to register their interest before Wednesday 4 March 2020.

The Community Fund are expecting to fund four or five projects over five to seven years. They have identified the following aims that projects must achieve:

  • Bring together people affected by homelessness with third and public sector organisations, and the private rented sector, to co-design projects that redesign services to prevent and tackle homelessness, making it rare, brief and non-recurrent.
  • Provide sustained, person-centred support that is additional to existing provision recognising that homelessness is often just one of several challenges faced by those experiencing it, and helping them overcome the other challenges in their lives.
  • Reduce the discrimination and prejudice directed towards homeless people who are experiencing homelessness by encouraging empathy and understanding through a trauma-informed approach within public and third sector services and the wider community
  • Develop a robust evidence base that can inform project delivery as well as other policymakers and service commissioners. The evidence will demonstrate effective approaches towards making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurrent.

Projects must be delivered by partnerships led by third sector organisations and including one or more local authorities. As you can see from the aims, the Community Fund are also looking for projects that work across sectors.

Organisations that have registered interest with the National Lottery Community Fund will then receive a list of other interested organisations in order to help establish the partnerships that will submit Expressions of Interest.
