WHAT IS INVESTING IN VOLUNTEERS?
Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK quality standard that helps organisations assess and improve the quality of their volunteer management and involvement. The journey lasts 13 months and the organisations work with an Assessor and a Lead Assessor to ensure they have everything they need to achieve the award.
After an understandably quieter period during the pandemic, the Investing in Volunteers standard has now fully picked up momentum again and over the last year we have been busier than ever before! We are working fully online, processing hundreds of enquiries and registrations of interest, as the Investing in Volunteers award is getting more and more popular in the eyes of funders.
‘IT’S HELPED THE ORGANISATION IMMENSELY’
During the last year we have had around 150 registrations of interest and 23 organisations completed the award. We are currently working with 58 organisations in Wales who are in the process of achieving IiV.
To meet this high demand for IiV in Wales we have improved our internal systems, using intelligent platforms to monitor and analyse data.
We have created a video that summarizes the experience of volunteers and managers with IiV and gives you a little taste of what it is about!
WORKING WITH FREELANCE ASSESSORS
We could not have done any of this work without our brilliant external assessors, who work with us tirelessly, with a positive attitude supporting organisations through their journey in Wales and the rest of the UK. During lockdown the IiV team adjusted to the world’s needs and transferred all systems online.
This gave us the opportunity to match assessors with organisations across the UK and work closely with people from the other nations. We also recruited some fantastic new Assessors and Lead Assessors.
Here are two of them sharing their views:

BECOMING AN IIV ASSESSOR
We are now expanding, and we need more external partners to join our team! We have prepared a full recruitment and training process for new external freelance assessors to join the team and work with us online. Find out more about getting qualified and what being a paid IiV assessor involves.
