COVID-19 update

We have a series of trustees and governance resources related to COVID-19 on our COVID-19 guidance and resources page.

Helping you to lead your organisation

Good governance is essential to the success of voluntary organisations. With high profile charity failures, increasing media scrutiny and declining public trust, establishing high standards of governance has never been more important.

Whether you are a trustee of a registered charity, the member of a governing body, director of a social enterprise, or a committee member for a local voluntary group, this section of our website is here to help you with your governance responsibilities. Much of the information in this section will also be useful for Chief Officers and other senior members of staff.

WCVA endorses the UK Charity Governance Code. The Code is a practical tool that aims to support charities with establishing and maintaining high standards of governance. Although designed for charities, the Code sets standards of good practice that are applicable to most third sector organisations. We would recommend that trustees familiarise themselves with the Code and sign up to its principles.
