Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving

Published : 21/11/25 | Categories: News |

Giving Tuesday is taking place on 2 December 2025. It’s a great opportunity to make the most of a global campaign to help garner more support for your organisation.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the last decade, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity for organisations to:

  • Engage with current and new donors,
  • Launch or shine a spotlight on your Christmas or end of year fundraising campaign,
  • Raise awareness of your services,
  • Celebrate your fantastic donors and volunteers, or
  • Share stories from your beneficiaries demonstrating your impact

It’s all about celebrating the amazing work you and other voluntary organsiations do, day in day out, year after year, to help those in need and to make life better.

RAISING OVER £20 MILLION

Last year, Giving Tuesday UK raised over £20 million with 1.5 million people saying they would be more likely to do something for charity as a result of Giving Tuesday. Highlights from last year’s campaign include The Big Give raising almost £13 million in just 12 hours and NatWest Bank donating £300,000 through match-funding.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

The Giving Tuesday campaign has created resources for organisations to use if you’d like to get involved. Check the Giving Tuesday website for the resources toolkit, as well as recordings of training sessions that might help you to make the most of the campaign, such as ‘Digital Marketing for Charities’ and ‘Using Canva like a pro’. They also have Welsh language assets and dedicated section of the Toolkit, making it easier for charities here in Wales to make the most of the campaign.

You don’t have to sign up anywhere to get involved, or even use the resources provided, you can develop your own messaging around celebrating your donors, supports and volunteers if you wish. Find the campaign on Twitter via @givingtuesdayuk and Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram, for the latest news, tools, and graphics for your campaign. Tag them in to have your messages shared by the campaign social media accounts.
