About the scheme

The Clean Energy Fund supports:

  • Energy efficiency upgrades
  • Renewable energy generation
  • Smart energy solutions including storage
  • Large scale solar & tidal energy
  • Operations improvements that lead to lower-carbon production

Funding will be 50% grant (minimum £25,000, maximum £500,000), 25% interest free loan (up to £250,000), with the remaining 25% required as match funding.

Who is this for?

To be eligible for this scheme:

  • Your organisation must be suitably constituted with a qualifying governance structure*
  • Your organisation must be based in or have a presence in North Wales (Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Ynys Môn)
  • The project must take place within North Wales

By supporting clean energy innovation and infrastructure, the fund aims to make North Wales a key player in the UK’s energy transition, while delivering lasting economic, environmental and social benefits for the region.

  • WCVA is working in partnership with Community Energy Wales to deliver the voluntary sector sub-fund, supporting voluntary organisations in North Wales to lower carbon emissions and create innovation in clean energy.
  • UMi is delivering the private sector sub-fund, supporting businesses to develop and scale clean energy solutions across the region.

Timescales

This is a five year scheme with applications accepted on a rolling basis until all funds have been allocated.

How to apply

The process begins with completion of an eligibility questionnaire. In order to complete this you will need to register with WCVA’s Multipurpose Application Portal (MAP). If you have previously registered with MAP, you can log in by entering your username and password on the home screen.
