We are pleased to announce that a new round of the Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme (LDTCS) is now open for applications.

The Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme (LDTCS) funds projects near certain waste transfer stations or landfill sites, with a focus on:

  • biodiversity
  • waste minimisation and the reduction of waste to landfill
  • wider environmental enhancements.

The scheme is now open for applications for grants of between £5,000 – £49,999.

If you have a project idea which would benefit the community, check out your eligibility by visiting our LDTCS webpage and using the map to see which sites are eligible.

DRIVING POSITIVE CHANGE IN COMMUNITIES

The previous rounds of LDTCS have funded a wide range of inspiring projects, empowering people to take action to improve their local environment.

Little Lounge had support from LDTCS to create innovative green spaces -‘The Little Eco Gardens – Y Gerddi Bach Eco’. Little Lounge are a volunteer-led community organisation who manage two outdoor areas and an indoor hub to promote wellbeing and improve access to nature and outdoor learning.

Based in Cilfynydd, Pontypridd, the project brought life to an under-used outdoor site on previously neglected land. The project has created a space for the community to learn about growing food, bio-diversity, and sustainability. LDTCS funding has supported the creation of a sheltered outdoor space and bathroom facilities which means activities on the site are more accessible and less weather dependant.

The improved infrastructure has meant more community events and it’s encouraged local residents to enjoy nature in a relaxed, welcoming way. The site has also seen positive volunteer contributions, including engaging with a local school to support learners to reconnect with education.

If you want to find out more about the projects we have funded, have a look at our Landfill Disposals Tax Communities Scheme Annual report.
