WCVA is delighted to be working in partnership with the Association of Chairs to host an event for charity Chairs in Wales.
We know that being the Chair of a trustee board or management committee is a big responsibility and can be challenging, so it’s important that Chairs are able to access the support they need. It can be really helpful to meet and network with other Chairs.
This event is focused on Chairs whose organisations serve Wales (exclusively, or as part of a UK brief) or want to do so. If you want to talk about the opportunities and challenges facing charities operating in Wales, or you are keen to talk to other Chairs focused on Wales, this event is for you.
The event will feature a panel of speakers to help explore the current challenges and opportunities of working in Wales and give you a strategic overview on policy, funding, and opportunities for collaboration. There will be networking opportunities to enable you to connect with other Chairs working in Wales.
THE PANEL
Richard Newton, author of the guide Introduction to key Welsh legislation affecting charities, will reflect on the opportunities and challenges presented by key Welsh laws such as The Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015; Third Sector Scheme; Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 and increasing focus on Delivering Place/Person-Focused Services, and offer insights into fund raising opportunities for Welsh activities.
Mair Rigby of WCVA will explore the support available from Welsh infrastructure bodies (including TSSW) and how collaboration and partnership is working via the Third Sector Scheme and Third Sector Partnership Council
Jess Williams, Wales’ Policy and Engagement Manager for the Charity Commission, will share the regulator’s perspective on key trends and issues for charities in Wales and what support the Commission can offer.
This event is open to all Chairs and Vice Chairs including of committees and advisory boards. You don’t need to be a member of AoC to attend the event. The session will be held over the online platform, Zoom on Wednesday 25 October 2023, 12:30 pm – 2 pm.
