Work is progressing to establish a new long-term national fund designed to create lasting benefit for voluntary organisations across Wales, and you can help shape its future.
BUILDING A LONG-TERM ASSET FOR WALES
Late last year, we announced plans to establish a new fund for Wales under the working title of the ‘Dyfodol Fund’, seeded with £4 million of WCVA’s own reserves. The fund is being developed as a sustainable national asset, designed to grow over time through investment returns and additional contributions.
The ambition is simple but significant: to create a lasting source of support for the voluntary organisations that strengthen communities, respond to emerging challenges and enrich lives across Wales.
THE CHALLENGE
Voluntary organisations deliver extraordinary value every day. They support people through crisis and change, strengthen communities, protect culture and language, and reach people and places others cannot. Yet many organisations operate within a funding landscape dominated by short-term and highly competitive funding opportunities, making it harder to plan, invest and build long-term resilience.
The new fund is a strategic response to that challenge. It is being established as an independent charitable organisation within the WCVA group, and will provide long-term stability, attract new investment into Wales and help secure a stronger future for the voluntary sector.
MOVING AMBITION TO ACTION
Following the approval of the fund’s business plan, work is now underway to establish the fund’s governance, identity and fundraising approach.
A number of key opportunities are now live as we build the foundations to launch and grow the fund over the coming years…
TRUSTEES WANTED
We are currently recruiting trustees to help guide the future direction of the fund. We want the founding board to play a crucial role in shaping the charitable organisation, ensuring strong governance and overseeing the development of a national asset that can benefit Wales for generations to come.

SHAPING THE FUND’S IDENTITY
We are also seeking a Brand and Communications Strategy Consultant to help develop the fund’s identity, narrative and communications approach.
This work will establish how the fund presents itself to partners, supporters and the wider public, helping build confidence, clarity and momentum around its purpose and ambitions.

ATTRACTING INVESTMENT
We are looking for a Fundraising and Engagement Strategy Consultant to help develop the fund’s approach to attracting philanthropic, corporate and partner investment.
A successful strategy will help create new pathways for investment into Wales’s voluntary sector and support the fund’s long-term sustainability and growth.
